I began my broiler farming project in 2021 as a means to sustain myself during challenging economic times. I started by purchasing chicks and feed from Profeeds, initially raising a flock of 200 chicks. Over time, I have expanded my capacity to accommodate 1,700 birds, a growth largely attributable to the expertise and invaluable advice provided by Profeeds.
Profeeds has been instrumental in the success of my project. Their chicks come properly vaccinated, significantly reducing the risk of disease. Their high-quality feed promotes healthy growth, and the treatments and vaccines they provide have helped me lower my flock’s mortality rate from over 11% to below 6%. This improvement is due to their technical expertise, informative manuals, responsive support, and excellent customer service.
Additionally, Profeeds offers feeding troughs and drinkers designed to minimize feed wastage, effectively reducing input costs when used correctly. Throughout my journey, I have encountered challenges in flock management, disease control, biosecurity, and animal welfare. However, with guidance from Profeeds, I have implemented good farming practices, improved ventilation, managed litter effectively, and maintained timely vaccination and feed changes.
Currently, my major challenge is marketing, as unfair market prices have created financial constraints, limiting my ability to expand to full capacity. I am seeking sponsorship to help scale my operations further.
I highly recommend Profeeds products and services to other farmers seeking optimal results in broiler production

My name is Gogo Mukaronda. I stay in Nyazura. My daughter told me about fish farming. She then said she could not do the project due to work commitments and that I should help her with the project. They told me to go for a fish training workshop in Rusape which was being held by Profeeds and Profarmer. We were trained on how to keep fish in the fishpond and how to feed them. After the training, we came and dug two fishponds. We then put out dam liners and filled them with water, which is being adequately supplied by our borehole. Our first batch of fish arrived in September and the second batch then arrived in November. After the second batch, we didn't take any fish as we wanted to see if there was progress and monitor. After that, we constructed an additional two ponds to make them four in total. Our third consignment of fish came in January, and the fourth in March. They are all growing well as we were properly taught how to keep and feed fish. If we have any complications with the fish, we quickly report to Profeeds, but we haven't encountered any serious problems. The problem we faced was during the first days when some fish would die. After reporting, they told us to put salt and that was the end. Another problem we faced was that of birds, which would come to eat fish. We quickly solved that by buying nets, and now they come, but they don't do anything because of the nets. Our first batch of fish which arrived in September last year is now six months old, and we are now harvesting it. People are rushing to buy our fish; they like them. Some are even buying in bulk for resale. As things stand, the first batch of fish is almost sold out. The second one is not yet ready. Fish farming is very helpful as you have relish at home, and income is generated when you sell them.
